Lauren & Eric's Vintage-Glam Wedding

Lauren and Eric had a super fun wedding. We really enjoy when we can be ourselves around our couples and we can definitely say we felt this way with them. They were married at the Wynn and their reception was at Maggiano’s. We did their first look at Cosmo before heading to Fremont Street and then they were on their way to be married. The photos tell their story so I will let them do the talking but first, their killer proposal story, as told my Lauren.
“Before I tell you my proposal story, there are a few things to know about us.
1. Eric is the worst at directions. We go to the same restaurants over and over again and he still needs me to tell me how to get there.
2. He always valets.
3. We eat out a lot and like go to special, Chef’s tastings.
4. I collect typewriters.
5. We were headed to Vegas that weekend to go look at wedding venues.

Eric and I already knew we were going to get married. Over the weekend, he had been joking with me that I would only get to wear my ring in Vegas while looking at venues. I didn’t really believe him, but I didn’t think he would propose on week-day night…

It was a Tuesday night and we were on our way to some Chef’s tasting at one of our favorite restaurants. The whole time we were driving there, Eric was on the phone discussing ‘work.’ As we got closer, he said he had Googled a faster route which I found very odd. He had memorized the street names and was paying close attention to the signs to not miss them. (He’s still taking phone calls at this time too.)

The restaurant is located on a busy, little street filled with shops, restaurants and a park. It’s one of the places where when you find a spot you take it and walk a block or two to your destination. (That is if you don’t valet.) So as we arrive on the street following Eric’s directions, he finds a spot and parks. When I questioned him, he kinda brushed me off, like ‘let’s just walk, what’s the big deal?’

We got out and headed to the restaurant. As we started walking, I noticed a pink typewriter sitting on a park bench. I remember immediately grabbing Eric’s arm and saying ‘Look!’ (Note – there was an older gentleman sitting two feet away from the typewriter so I thought it belonged to him). We got closer and I noticed a letter sitting in the typewriter. I bent down to read it and then it hit me that this was THE proposal. By the time I was done reading the letter, Eric was down on one knee holding the ring. My friend Devi was there taking pictures of everything and our friend Kiel recorded the whole thing. Obviously, I said yes.

After some kisses and hugs, Eric said the Chef’s tasting was a lie and we were really headed to the place where we had one of our first dates. We got back in the car and of course, he went the wrong way or so I thought. When we finally did arrive, we walked in and I noticed a small group of our family and friends there waiting for a little celebration.

I found out afterwards that all those ‘work’ phone calls were really our friends helping Eric find a parking spot.”

Congrats L&E!

Amanda & James' Colorful Desert Elopement

Amanda and James came from Australia for their nuptials. It was just the two of them and they wanted to do something different and fun. Amanda found a traveling minister and was open to a location so eventually we just decided on the desert. What we didn’t plan on was the wind that day. It was SO windy and even though during the ceremony at some points, I was no more than 5 feet away, you couldn’t hear a thing. Thankfully due to Amanda having hired a great hair and make-up artist, she still looked amazing and when they finally said, I do, no one needed to hear it because it was written all over their faces. Following the ceremony we headed to Nelson quickly before going back to the desert to do a TTD. We didn’t realize how quickly time had gone so it was pitch black by the time the trashing actually started. A&J could not actually see one another except when the flashes would go off, but I think it ended up being pretty successful. :) Congrats to you both!

Michelle & Mike's Arcade Style Wedding

Michelle and Mike wanted to celebrate their wedding day in a fun and unique way. They were married at the Wynn and their reception was at Maggianos. But before the party was started, they wanted to celebrate in their own way, at the arcade at New York, New York. And before that began, Michelle got ready at Aria and the two of them decided to have a first look. They really wanted that moment to be special and share their own written vows with one another at that point. Mike and I get to be a part of so many private moments and this one was very special. After they saw each other and exchanged promises and tears, they were off to be wed. After the ceremony, we met up with them again and onto the arcade we went. Their bridal party, along with some guests got to play all kinds of games and win tickets for prizes. In the end, the majority traded them in for water guns. This led to security almost escorting us out. (Just another day for Mike L. Photography! :)) Thank you Michelle and Mike for allowing us to spend our day with you and congrats!

Megan & Dave : Holi Powder Desert Engagement Session

Messy engagement sessions are the best! We have had a lot of e-sessions to kick off the year and every one of them has been so different. From Cali to Ghost Towns and then out to the desert, we love that they have all been so diverse. Megan and Dave were nervous about having photos taken. Most couples are and I always encourage an adult beverage to help them out. Well these two took that very seriously and brought large bottles and even glasses to down a drink or three to get more comfortable for the session. I thought it was awesome. Liquid courage does tend to help loosen up before a session and they may have needed it for what they had in store. We grabbed a few traditional photos before diving right into the Holi Powder. I love that stuff even though it gets everywhere. The facial expressions on these two says it all. Then if that wasn’t enough they brought some paint into the mix as well. I made the comment that they probably wouldn’t use the entire bottle of paint. Right. Not to mention, Dave got Megan right in the eye with that paint. Again, check out the facial expressions!

Congrats M&D! It was a messy, good time!

Mari & Mona's Ghost Town Couples Session

Mike and I have been friends with Mari for awhile now. She is the best kind of people. Yes, I said people. So when we had the chance to meet Mona at our Superbowl party last year I was excited to see who snagged my amazing friend and kudos to Mari because Mona was just as awesome. The moment you meet these gorgeous ladies you fall in love with them. They are just incredible people. Enough gushing even though I could go on and on. These two were actually married in Cali already but are having a huge wedding in Vegas next year so it was only proper to have Engagement photos. We went to Nelson and had an excellent time. We also managed to finally get a couple in their 49’ers gear. OH YEAH! :) M&M (see what I did there?), you guys are so much fun and we had an amazing time. We cannot wait for this wedding next year!
