Lisa & Nick's Two Day Wedding Adventure

This two day extravaganza started in Vegas. Mike and I met up with Nick and Lisa at Fremont Street after they were married on the New York-New York Roller Coaster. Seriously, how awesome of a ceremony is that? So we met with them at Fremont and broke some rules. (Kind of.) The first day was just the precursor for the awesomeness of day two. Day two took place in San Diego. This was the first time Mike and I have flown from Vegas and back in the same day. Crazy. So day two took place at the Sandstone Cliffs in Cali. This included an epic hike in flip flops. Yeah. I gave up. Mike didn’t and the result was pretty great. They also wanted to do a TTD so there was some holi powder thrown around as well. I’ll include their pretty great stories as well.

How they met, as told by Nick:
“We both got dragged out last minute by friends to a local show in Baltimore. She noticed my shoes which have Freddy Kreuger on them (whom she loves) so that got us talking. Upon further discussion we realized that we knew A LOT of the same people and have been to a lot of the same places at the same time without even knowing each other, so we already had a indirect connection to one another. We soon became inseparable and haven’t looked back since.”

Their proposal story:
“Our anniversary falls on the 15th. Our (official) 6-month mark fell on Feb 15th 2013. I had already bought her a ring from a gumball machine while we she was meeting my son for the first time in Wisconsin for his 4th birthday, but I already knew she was the one so I had plans to propose on the 15th of Feb with a real ring( she still wears both rings to this day). But me being the person I am couldn’t wait so i had the idea to create our ‘Valengagaversary’ On the eve of Feb 13th we were standing in the kitchen being cute and what not and I couldn’t wait any longer. We just started holding each other and rocking back and forth and I made the comment “Is this how we’re going to dance on our wedding day?” and promptly pulled out the ring and received a yes. So 13th being our Engagement Day, 14th being V-Day and the 15th being our anniversary therefore creating the ‘Valengagaversary’.”

Congrats L&N!

Lacey & Tony's Trash the Dress in Seattle

This session was so much fun. It is pretty self-explanatory so I will just include the story of how they met. It makes for a great read. :)

As told by Lacey:
“I first saw Tony in 2010. He was a heavy equipment operator and his maintenance route was the same route I used to get to work every day.
Every time we passed one another we would wave and smile. Seeing him made me giddy.. I totally had a school girl crush.
That went on for almost 2 years.
Fast forward to 2012:
My sister and I went out to a local bar for a few drinks. A few quickly turned in to 5-8 and I was annihilated. I was sitting at the bar and felt something against my back. I turned around and there HE (Tony) was, leaned up against the bar with his back to mine looking all studly. He says it was a coincidence.. I’m pretty sure he planned it. I was sloppy, crude and a total shitshow, but he still wanted my number and called me the next day. From there on out, we’ve been inseparable.”

P.s. Lacey’s dress for this session is actually a replica of her dress she wore on the wedding day. Pretty sweet, huh?

Lacey & Tony's Port Townsend Wedding

Mike and I are SO behind on blogging, it is crazy…so here is a wedding from June that will knock your socks off. (If you’re wearing socks.)

Lacey and Tony are two of the coolest people on the planet. No…seriously. I wish Alaska (that’s where they live) was next door to Nevada so we could be neighbors and BFF’s because we love them. Lots. Lacey is the sister of a previous bride of ours and when she contacted us to shoot her wedding in Washington, I was ecstatic. See, her sister is Brittany and her wedding is the one I missed due to being in labor. So not only would I get to work with awesome people, but I knew the wedding would be amazing since sisters tend to think alike. Sometimes. Anyway, so off Mike and I went to Seattle in June to photograph this amazeballs wedding.

This was a wedding where having gone to Cosmetology school came in handy since I had the opportunity to do Lacey’s hair. The chick she hired didn’t end up working out, so I came to the rescue. It ended up being a lot of fun and not that she needed my help at all, Lacey looked stunning. Following the B&G getting ready we headed up by their ceremony site and took some photos around some old World War 2 bunkers which were very cool. On the way to some, we happened to pass a guy sitting on the side of the road playing bagpipes. Immediately, Lacey was like, OMG! So we pulled over and the dude actually came and played at the wedding. He even changed his shirt. It was awesome. So, pictures at the bunkers and some at the beach before the emotional, yet, perfect ceremony took place on a hill with a single tree. Lacey’s son Atticus made it all that much more special. It was beautiful. There was a small reception and the night ended with matching tattoos because, well, that’s how we do.

Congrats to Lacey and Tony!!

Lauren & Eric's Vintage-Glam Wedding

Lauren and Eric had a super fun wedding. We really enjoy when we can be ourselves around our couples and we can definitely say we felt this way with them. They were married at the Wynn and their reception was at Maggiano’s. We did their first look at Cosmo before heading to Fremont Street and then they were on their way to be married. The photos tell their story so I will let them do the talking but first, their killer proposal story, as told my Lauren.
“Before I tell you my proposal story, there are a few things to know about us.
1. Eric is the worst at directions. We go to the same restaurants over and over again and he still needs me to tell me how to get there.
2. He always valets.
3. We eat out a lot and like go to special, Chef’s tastings.
4. I collect typewriters.
5. We were headed to Vegas that weekend to go look at wedding venues.

Eric and I already knew we were going to get married. Over the weekend, he had been joking with me that I would only get to wear my ring in Vegas while looking at venues. I didn’t really believe him, but I didn’t think he would propose on week-day night…

It was a Tuesday night and we were on our way to some Chef’s tasting at one of our favorite restaurants. The whole time we were driving there, Eric was on the phone discussing ‘work.’ As we got closer, he said he had Googled a faster route which I found very odd. He had memorized the street names and was paying close attention to the signs to not miss them. (He’s still taking phone calls at this time too.)

The restaurant is located on a busy, little street filled with shops, restaurants and a park. It’s one of the places where when you find a spot you take it and walk a block or two to your destination. (That is if you don’t valet.) So as we arrive on the street following Eric’s directions, he finds a spot and parks. When I questioned him, he kinda brushed me off, like ‘let’s just walk, what’s the big deal?’

We got out and headed to the restaurant. As we started walking, I noticed a pink typewriter sitting on a park bench. I remember immediately grabbing Eric’s arm and saying ‘Look!’ (Note – there was an older gentleman sitting two feet away from the typewriter so I thought it belonged to him). We got closer and I noticed a letter sitting in the typewriter. I bent down to read it and then it hit me that this was THE proposal. By the time I was done reading the letter, Eric was down on one knee holding the ring. My friend Devi was there taking pictures of everything and our friend Kiel recorded the whole thing. Obviously, I said yes.

After some kisses and hugs, Eric said the Chef’s tasting was a lie and we were really headed to the place where we had one of our first dates. We got back in the car and of course, he went the wrong way or so I thought. When we finally did arrive, we walked in and I noticed a small group of our family and friends there waiting for a little celebration.

I found out afterwards that all those ‘work’ phone calls were really our friends helping Eric find a parking spot.”

Congrats L&E!

Amanda & James' Colorful Desert Elopement

Amanda and James came from Australia for their nuptials. It was just the two of them and they wanted to do something different and fun. Amanda found a traveling minister and was open to a location so eventually we just decided on the desert. What we didn’t plan on was the wind that day. It was SO windy and even though during the ceremony at some points, I was no more than 5 feet away, you couldn’t hear a thing. Thankfully due to Amanda having hired a great hair and make-up artist, she still looked amazing and when they finally said, I do, no one needed to hear it because it was written all over their faces. Following the ceremony we headed to Nelson quickly before going back to the desert to do a TTD. We didn’t realize how quickly time had gone so it was pitch black by the time the trashing actually started. A&J could not actually see one another except when the flashes would go off, but I think it ended up being pretty successful. :) Congrats to you both!
